Julius Hallström Joins Artemis SailGP – The Grind Starts Now

Today (November 7, 2025) the Swedish team announced that Julius Hallström has signed on as Grinder ahead of their debut season in the Rolex SailGP Championship 2026.

Another piece of the puzzle is laid out for Artemis SailGP. After four seasons with ROCKWOOL Racing, Hallström has established himself as one of SailGP’s most respected grinders — known for his endurance, precision, and tactical sharpness aboard the lightning-fast F50 catamarans. His move marks both a reunion with Swedish sailing and a personal milestone.

“To represent Sweden with Artemis feels very special,” Hallström said.
“I’m proud of what we achieved in ROCKWOOL Racing. I’ve developed and become better each season, and now Artemis felt like a natural next step. The ambition is clear, the knowledge is here, and the chance to build something from the ground up is incredibly motivating.”

He added:

“Racing alongside other Swedish sailors feels truly inspiring. I’m ready to bring my experience and energy to push Artemis forward.”

For Hallström, this is not just about coming home. It’s about raising the standard for what Swedish performance sailing can be.

Outteridge: “Exactly What We Need”

Artemis SailGP Skipper Nathan Outteridge, who steered Japan SailGP Team to multiple podiums before winning the 37th America’s Cup with Emirates Team New Zealand, praised the signing:

“Julius has been a powerhouse for Denmark, and now he brings those qualities home to Sweden. He’s one of the strongest and most consistent grinders in the league — physically dominant, tactically sharp, and relentless under pressure. The experience he brings from tough racing is exactly what we need as we build a team to fight at the top.”

Hallström will join the team immediately and will not compete with ROCKWOOL Racing in the SailGP Season 5 Finale in Abu Dhabi later this month.

Building the Crew — One Swedish Star at a Time

Hallström’s signing follows the announcement of Julia Gross as the first official crew member of Artemis SailGP, unveiled in October.

Gross, who helmed the Swedish Challenge in the Women’s America’s Cup and previously raced with Red Bull Italy SailGP Team, returns to the Artemis family where her professional career began more than a decade ago.

“SailGP is the pinnacle of high-performance sailing, and racing under my home flag alongside Nathan Outteridge is a real honor,” Gross said when she joined. “Artemis has always felt like home, and to return now — as part of a new Swedish team — feels incredibly special. I’m also excited about the pathway Artemis is creating, from youth and women’s sailing to the SailGP team.”

Together, Gross and Hallström represent both the future and the foundation of Artemis SailGP: experienced, Swedish-born, world-tested, and driven by a shared mission to build something extraordinary.

A New Era for Swedish Sailing

It was on September 19 that SailGP officially revealed its 13th team for 2026 — Artemis SailGP Team — marking Sweden’s long-awaited return to the world’s fastest sailing league.

The team is led by CEO Iain Percy, an Olympic gold medallist and veteran of multiple America’s Cup campaigns, with financial backing from Artemis Racing owner Torbjörn Törnqvist. Their goal: to reignite Sweden’s sailing heritage and compete head-to-head with the world’s elite when SailGP’s sixth season kicks off in Perth, Australia on January 17–18, 2026.

“We’re proud to bring Sweden into this elite championship,” Percy said at the launch. “SailGP is redefining the sport with unmatched speed, innovation, and fan engagement. Our focus is clear — to compete at the highest level while pushing boundaries both on and off the water.”

SailGP CEO Russell Coutts welcomed the addition, noting that Artemis brings “remarkable depth of talent, experience, and professionalism” and is “expected to be a real contender from the very first race.”

Driven by Performance, United by Purpose

Artemis SailGP embodies Sweden’s values of innovation, precision, and collaboration — and every signing so far reinforces that identity.

Hallström’s world-class power and discipline complement Gross’s strategic insight and Outteridge’s race-winning leadership. Behind them, Percy’s technical expertise and Törnqvist’s vision ensure the program has both depth and direction.

It’s a line-up built on experience — but also intent. Artemis isn’t just entering the league; they’re entering to win.

“This is a new challenge for all of us,” Outteridge said when the team was announced. “A chance to showcase what Swedish sailing can achieve on one of the toughest and fastest stages in the world.”

As preparations ramp up for January, the team continues to reveal its full crew and support roster. Training, testing, and team-building are underway — every grinder turn, every flight control, every data point moving Artemis closer to race-ready form.

For Hallström, the work begins immediately.
For Artemis SailGP, the mission is clear: bring Swedish performance sailing back to the top tier — faster, stronger, and more united than ever.

The grind starts now.
